Stephen Talasnik (b. 1954, Philadelphia, PA) studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Tyler School of Art. For over fifteen years, he divided his time between New York and Japan, traveling extensively throughout Thailand, the Philippines, China, and Korea. Working across drawing, sculpture, and large-scale site-specific installation, Talasnik explores architecture, engineering, and imagined systems of construction. He has created major installations at Storm King Art Center, Denver Botanic Gardens, Manitoga/The Russel Wright Design Center in Garrison, NY, and other institutions internationally. His drawings are held in numerous public collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Albertina Museum, Vienna; The British Museum, London; National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; and Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
